Delphine Boury-Simoes
Coach
Delphine comes from France, near Paris and moved to Norwich 7 years ago to study Medicine. She started skating at the age of 8, competing in figure skating and ice dancing. At the age of 12 she joined one of the first French synchronised skating teams and traveled all over Europe for competitions. Her best results include three first places at the French junior championships. Delphine also skated for local and national ice skating shows. She started coaching at the age of 15, helping out in her local rink and later at a university skating club in Paris where she gained her first teaching qualification. Her main interests are synchronised skating and ice dancing.
Delphine met her husband, Nicolas, when skating for the BBC children in need in 2003 and they recently got married on the Forum ice rink in Norwich city centre.
She recently convinced her husband to swap his hockey skates for figure skates and is being coached by Pauline Stevenson. They are training to pass the ice dancing NISA grades.
Delphine is a NISA registered coach and is being mentored by Pauline to gain more coaching qualifications, she is also a member of the British ice teacher association (BITA) and the French figure skating teachers association.
Delphine is also responsible for providing the learn to skate classes at the ice experience ice rink.
Pauline Stevenson
International Ice Skating Coach
Pauline's professional teaching career spans more than 40 years, having held teaching posts in Nottingham, Leeds and Peterborough in the UK and at ice stadiums in Germany, Spain and Canada. She has trained both amateur and professional skaters in free skating, ice dance, figure skating and field moves.
Her extensive esperience includes training actors for television parts, choreographing ice shows, as well as developing strength and mobility for people with a range of special needs.
Pauline is NISA registered and trained in Inter Gold Dance and Silver Figure and Free standard.
Currently, she is assisting Delphine Boury-Simoes with the basic skills, training and choreography of the Norwich Ice Skating Clubs' skaters, preparing them for upcoming club events as well as potential synchronized skating and ice dancing competitions. Additionally, she has a number of private tuition skaters.
