NISC is the newest ice skating club in the country; we started meeting regularly in January 2007 and we are affiliated with NISA. Norwich was waiting for an ice rink for years. Our club skates at the Ice Experience ice rink which opened in October 2006 and proves to be very popular amongst Norwich and Norfolk people who had to travel more than 2 hours one way to go to skate in Peterborough or Chelmsford.
Our founder and coach, Delphine Boury-Simoes has been skating since childhood and had to give it all up when she came to study in Norwich 7 years ago. She was delighted when she found out about the permanent rink opening. She decided to approach the local newspapers and radio to gather enough interest to start an ice skating club.
We are very lucky to have Pauline Stevenson, very experienced coach to help out on Sundays and a group of local and international skaters who are all passionate about the sport.
Our activities:
We aim to promote all aspects of figure skating, at competitive and recreational levels. We welcome members of any age who have basic skating skills (see the membership information for details). We meet every Sunday from 8am to 10am. The first hour is dedicated to the synchro training, coached by Delphine; and the second hour to individual, pair skating and ice dancing, coached by Delphine and Pauline together.
We have two synchronised skating teams: the Ice Candy (Adult team) and the Polar Penguins (Elementary).
Upcoming club and ice skating events can be found on the NISC Events page.
